Slow Mac? System Lens can help

Is your Mac running slow? The free Mac app System Lens will help. Writer Matt Elliott with CNET recently wrote about this app which offers Mac users a list of all the apps they’ve got running at a given time. Best of all? System Lens charts the amount of your Mac’s resources each one of these apps is consuming.

Resource hogs

Knowing what’s running is important because apps can quickly become resource hogs. Users today are increasingly loading up their Macs with apps. It’s not surprising; a large number of apps can make users more productive. Others are fun. But lots of apps can transform a quick Mac into a lethargic lump.

The power of System Lens

This is where System Lens will come in. Elliott in his story states that this app will list all the apps that are currently operating on your Mac. The app will also give each app a ranking — low, medium, high — for the level of resources it is consuming. Finally, the app will show you how strained your entire Mac is overall.

What will happen next is up to you. You could opt to close or erase some of the apps consuming the greatest amount of resources on your Mac. Doing so might provide a surprising, and pleasant, boost to your Mac’s speed.
